It's been a while!

Not quite sure what made me look at my blog but as you can probably see I haven't exactly updated it much. This seems as good a time as any to update it so here goes:

I have done quite a few races in 2011 starting in April when I did the Bungay Half Marathon and somehow came 2nd in a time of 1:22:24 which was a massive PB.

In May I did the Woodbridge 10k and again smashed my PB to run in a time of 36:53

July saw me attempt a new distance- 5 miles which I did at Capel St Mary. I finished in a time of 30mins bang on although my Garmin said otherwise!

I trained really hard for an attempt at beating my Half Marathon PB at the Ipswich Half in mid September. Unfortunately injury struck and had to pull out of this. After building the training back up I completed another 5 mile race in my local town and came 2nd but the time wasn't great as I was suffering with man flu.

My best performance of the year came at the Adnams 10k race in Southwold- there were a few runners I knew had entered and was determined to beat them....not only did I achieve this but I took another chunk out of my PB to finish in a highly satisfying 5th in 36:14.

My goals for 2012 as things stand are to enter a few more races and to try and beat my current PBs. I would like to go sub 1 hour 20mins in the Half Marathon (aiming for Bungay again). Sub 36 mins in the 10K, sub 29 mins at 5 miles and set something like sub 18 mins at 5k. I hope to update the blog a bit more too!

On your marks...

Well it's a new year so I thought I'd finally take my wife's advice and start blogging! I've been wanting to start something for a while now- somewhere to share my thoughts on, well, running mainly, but anything sport related!

A bit about myself first of all- I've been running for about a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I have completed four races over the past 6 months and have well and truly caught the running bug. More events planned for 2011 including anything from 5k upto half marathon distance.

As things stand my PBs are:
5k: not attempted
10k: 38:39s
10m: 63.29s
Half Marathon: 1:29.30
Marathon: not attempted

My goals for the next 12 months are to beat my existing times and to give the 5k a shot- as for the marathon...no chance!!

I'll try and keep this updated on at least a weekly basis so you can see how I'm getting on and to read my thoughts on how depressing it is being an Ipswich Town fan!
